Lighting for a Boutique Hotel: How Antique Lamps Create an Experience

A boutique hotel is judged by its details. Guests remember the warm light in their room, the lamp on the reception desk and the chandelier in the lobby long after they forget the colour of the walls. Antique and vintage lamps give every room its own identity, and that is exactly what sets a boutique hotel apart from a chain.
Lobby and reception
First impressions are made at the entrance. A brass chandelier in the lobby and a table lamp on the reception desk, such as a green-shaded banker's lamp or a lamp with a hand-painted glass shade, tell guests at once what kind of place they are in.
Rooms and corridors: pairs of wall sconces
In guest rooms, a pair of wall sconces on either side of the bed is practical and attractive. In corridors, a row of sconces gives soft light and leads the way to the room. The shop has pairs of brass and bronze sconces with glass shades; if you need more than a pair, ask us how many units we have of each model.
Bar, restaurant and dining room
Pendants in amber glass, ribbed glass or lantern shapes, hung in a row over the bar, create warm, intimate light. Different models in the same tone can be combined for an eclectic look that still feels planned.
Planning a project
- Quantities: antique pieces usually come singly or in pairs. For many rooms, similar models can be combined in a matching finish.
- Electrics and safety: we rewire and fit for LED bulbs, so the lamps are ready for everyday hotel use.
- Restoration: if the property already has old lamps, they can be restored instead of replaced. See chandelier and lamp restoration.
- Support: we work with designers and architects, see designers and architectural planning.
